Why is the Fritzl case being so widely covered by BBC ?

Again the british lust for anything involving sexual or relationship abuse. Do you think the british have a really sick streak in them to hunger for and elaborate on this sort of horrible subject and why if it is not even a UK story is it dominating the news and media ?Why is the Fritzl case being so widely covered by BBC ?
Brilliant points you raise Braveheart.

All of them right on the button. The sick nation that drools over anything sordid and funds tripe tabloid muck raking. Anything that the british feel they can stand as moral judge over when they themselves have a long long littany of shame disgrace and immorality.

I like the bit about the monarchy which also is very true !

Braveheart. (750 years ago) !Why is the Fritzl case being so widely covered by BBC ?
The news covers major events from around the world. This case is a major internatonal event so I would expect it to be covered. Other important overseas news gets covered too such as the US presidential election, the situation in North Korea, the nuclear programme in Iran etc etc which contained no sexual abuse as far as I am aware of.
Its an interesting question. The BBC enjoy gossip type subjects, to be honest when the whole thing unfolded last year they showed the story for hours straight and I would have thought they would shy away from such an awful and weird story. I think it does say a lot about the British and British media and it doesnt say the right thing.
Mostly because of how cruel and heinous this crime is. It's very unusual and it's hard for people to fathom how a father could commit such cruel crimes over such a long time to his own daughter. As horrible as it is, it's still very news worthy. I'm sure you read all about it.
Because it's like a grotesque need to know all the tradgic details .

I don't understand it to be quite honest , it's like people that slow down to stare at car crashes and film it on mobiles. What's up with that?

All I want to know is that he will go to jail for the rest of his life and his daughter will get all the help she needs to recover and rebuild her life.
Today the TV news showed the back of reporters heads queueing to get into court, in fact one shot just showed some railings. There is no news until he has been sentenced. Why they bothered to even mention it before then is a mystery. Even then do we care? It is just taking the spotlight off the government cockups
IT's either a story to cover something else up that would otherwise be in the news, such as a political, banking or other such story. Although it's much more than an average rape or incest story, this guy is a monster.
its a shoking story. i suppose thats why its so widley covered.

after 24 years being held prisoner by her brute of a rapist pig of a father this woman and her children have finally got thier FREEDOM.

goes to show... how well do you know your neighbours?
I think it is the imprisonment aspect that makes it news worthy, stories of people being raped and sodomised are ten a penny.
because the trial is only happening now. but i do think that the uk and ireland have a fascination with depressing sexual abuse stories
It's a highly unusual and interesting case, that's why it's being publicised to such an extent. That kind of thing just doesn't happen!
Its probably being covered in many other countries too not just here. I think its because its such a disturbing story.
kettle to the pot: you are black
idk
it sells
It is because it is shocking and it is a follow up to the story that shocked the world, not just the country it happened in.

At least it shows that people who commit horrendous crimes like this do not get away with it - unless you are in UK of course - where so often criminals are given a tap on the wrist and told not to do it again.

I do not find it compulsive reading, I was interested to see that justice was rightly done and he got life imprisonment. Not that it will do the children much good who's life he ruined, but there is some justice in the fact he will never know freedom again.

It is human nature to follow the case through to the end when it is so inhumane.

:)

Edit: when I first read this and answered, I thought it was genuine. However, on reading the edits, I see it is just another childish 'pop' at the Brits.

Pathetic..........
