Which cell fone cover is better? Silicone or Hard Case?

I'm having a Blueberry Pearl fone, and I want to know which case would be better for my fone? I want the cover that would LEAST break my fone if I ever drop it. I the hard case, but I was thinking if it would easy to break my fone or not. The salesman say silicone would less break but it easy to come off. I'm confused, can someone help??? i would go with the hard case, which is what i have, its more protective.
